What is Surgical Dermatology?

Surgical dermatology involves the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions of the skin and surrounding tissues by several surgical, cosmetic and non-invasive surgical methods. The purpose of skin surgery is to repair and/or improve the function and cosmetic appearance of skin tissue. 

The various procedures within surgical dermatology may involve the superficial layers of the skin or extend through to the underlying layers of muscle or fat below, depending on the condition being treated.

At Brentwood Dermatology, our board-certified dermatologists perform surgical dermatology procedures at our Brentwood clinic. Our team of doctors has advanced training in Mohs surgery and other types of dermatologic surgeries. We regularly perform these surgeries for our clients, so feel assured you’re receiving competent, compassionate care you can trust.

In most cases, our surgical procedures are performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthetic.
